So, these are pretty much the definition of indulgence. I love making variations on things like cinnamon buns because it’s really hard to go wrong. These are made with my moms sweet dough recipe, the fluffy yummy dough that I usually use for any kind of roll I make. I crushed a whole box of Oreos and used it inside the dough, rolled up with sugar and melted butter, and then topped the creamy-cheesy-lemony icing with a whole nother layer of cookie crunch. Ya, these are decadent, rich, sweet and just plain GOOD. Enjoy <3
Fluffy Cookies 'N' Cream Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 T sugar
- 1 T yeast
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4-5 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 box Oreo’s, crushed
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Directions
- In stand mixer with dough hook attached, dissolve sugar into 1 cup warm water. Add yeast and wait until frothy, about 10 minutes.
- Add oil, salt, additional cup of water, egg, and sugar. Mix.
- Slowly add flour, one cup at a time, until dough pulls from sides of bowl. Beat for about 7-8 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 hour in warm place.
- Punch dough down and roll out onto floured surface into large rectangle. Spread softened butter over dough and sprinkle sugar on top. Top sugar with generous layer of crushed Oreo cookies (a little over half the box).
- Roll, long side in, and slice into 2 inch slices before arranging in a 9X13 pan, buttered or sprayed with non-stick oil. Cover rolls and let rise an additional 40 minutes.
- Bake in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, to make glaze, combine the cream cheese, icing sugar and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Mix well until it is a drizzling consistency. If too thick, add a little milk.
- Remove buns from oven and let cool. While slightly warm, drizzle the glaze over the rolls and top with the crushed cookies. Serve and enjoy! (If you don’t think they’ll be consumed within a couple days you may freeze them as they freeze quite well) 🙂
