The simplest of dinners to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Spaghetti and meatballs is an age-old classic that will never go out of style. This is my favorite recipe for big gatherings and it’s great because it is so easy to adjust to make enough to feed a crowd! Enjoy!
The Best Spaghetti & Meatballs with Simple Marinara
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- pinch of kosher salt and pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- pinch red pepper flakes
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 bay leaves
- kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 package spaghetti
- 1/2 cup mozzarella, shredded
Directions
- Grease a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet with 2 Tablespoons olive oil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In medium sized bowl, add beef, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes salt and pepper and egg. Mix well using masher or large fork, or clean hands.
- Roll beef mixture into 1-inch balls and arrange evenly on baking pan. Bake in oven for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through, turning halfway through bake time.
- Meanwhile, in sauce pan oven med heat, heat the olive oil, adding the garlic cloves and cooking until soft and fragrant. Add the red pepper flakes, crushed tomatoes, oregano, bay leaves and salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, remove bay leaves before serving.
- Cook spaghetti in large pot per package directions, drain, and return to pot. Drizzle your marinara over the pasta to coat evenly before arranging your cooked meatballs on top. Sprinkle the mozzarella over the meatballs and sauce. Serve and enjoy!
