Spicy Beef Dumplings With Peanut Sauce

There is a restaurant here that my husband and I used to go to often just to stuff ourselves with their delicious peanut dumplings. I can’t imagine life without knowing how delicious these are. I’m dramatic, I know. Anyway, I have made peanut sauce a million times but this is the closest I’ve come to matching that heavenly dish that will forever be imprinted in me. I hope you enjoy these dumplings as much as we do! 🙂

  • Ingredients for Peanut Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 3 Tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Ingredients for Beef Dumplings:
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 Tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tablespoon green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • won ton wrappers

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix together the peanut butter, soy sauce, hot water, vinegar, fish sauce and sugar.
  2. In a pan, cook the garlic in olive oil until soft and fragrant. Add peanut butter mixture and stir until it reaches slightly thicker consistency. Add in red pepper flakes and mix well. Remove sauce from heat and set aside.
  3. To make beef filling, combine ground beef, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, garlic, red pepper flakes, green onion, egg and salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  4. To assemble dumplings, place half a tablespoon of the beef filling at the center of the dumpling wrapper. Moisten edges with water and pinch gently but firmly to seal wrapper.
  5. In a large pot, bring water to boil. Put dumplings in, one by one, and stir gently to prevent them from sticking. Boil for four minutes and remove from water with slotted spoon.
  6. Place cooked dumplings on a plate and pour peanut sauce evenly over them. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Enjoy!
