Ingredients

  • 2 puff pastry sheets

  • 1/2 cup Nutella

  • 1/2 cup pretzels, crushed

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • kosher salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper, set aside.
  • Lay out one sheet of puff pastry, thawed as per package directions, and spread Nutella over entire sheet, all the way to the edges. Then, sprinkle crushed pretzels over Nutella. (I add pretzels to a zip-lock bag and crush them with a mallet or bottom of a mug or glass)
  • Place second sheet of pastry over the first, sandwiching the Nutella in between. Then, use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice 7-8 strips into the dough. One by one, pick up a strand and twist both sides opposite ways to form your twists and then place them on the sheet pan, leaving a little space between each as they will puff up in the oven.
  • In a small bowl, beat egg and then use basting brush to coat pastries in egg wash, follow with a sprinkle of additional crushed pretzels, or kosher salt if the pretzels weren’t salted (Or if you just want them extra salty) 🙂
  • Bake in oven for approx 15 minutes, until they have puffed up and turned a golden brown on top. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before transferring to serving plate. Best enjoyed while still warm.
