Prosciutto & Asparagus Pastry Puffs

This is such a great appetizer idea for any time during the holidays, but you really don’t need an excuse to try them because they’re so simple and SO good. I love using puff pastry for the convenience factor for things exactly like this- it’s flaky and perfect when paired with the salty prosciutto and creamy cheese, and is ready within half an hour. Can’t beat that. Hope you love these, enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

  • 8 or more stalks of asparagus, washed and trimmed

  • 8 strips of prosciutto

  • 1 8 oz wheel of Brie cheese, sliced

  • 1 egg

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside
  • Spread puff pastry out on clean surface and slice into 8 even squares
  • Place a sprig of asparagus (or more) into each square of pastry, then place a strip of prosciutto over and a slice of Brie. Fold two edges of the dough to meet over the middle of the bundle and pinch dough to seal. Repeat with each pastry square, placing each on the baking sheet with a little space between them.
  • In a small bowl, beat egg and use pastry brush to brush the egg wash lightly over each pastry.
  • Place baking sheet into oven and bake for approx 20 minutes, until pastry is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve warm. Enjoy
