My husband knows that the one meal I could never give up is a steak. Any time we go to a restaurant I always want the same thing. Steak and sauteed garlic butter mushrooms. My fave, always. This recipe includes my steak marinade that I love, although steak really needs nothing but salt and pepper, right! Still, its my go-to. I highly recommend serving these delicious mushrooms right on top of the steak and pairing this meal with a side of my crushed potatoes, posted yesterday. Enjoy!!
Flank Steak with Browned Garlic Butter Mushrooms
Ingredients
- 2 lb flank steak
- steak marinade *see notes at bottom
- 1/2 stick butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups cremini mushrooms
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- juice of one lemon
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- fresh herbs for garnish, chopped
- *Steak marinade* 2 Tablespoons soy sauce, 1 lemon, juiced, 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce, 1 Tablespoon minced garlic, 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pinch of red pepper
Directions
- Mix marinade ingredients together in large zip lock bag. Add the steak to bag, seal and let sit for about 30 minutes.
- Add 1/2 stick of butter and garlic to skillet over med-high heat. Allow to brown and then add mushrooms, cooking for 2-3 minutes until tender. Remove mushrooms and set aside.
- Place steak in skillet and cook approx 3 mins per side or to desired wellness. If desired you may add some veggies to pan at this time, I also added some of the crushed potatoes from the night before (search “potatoes” in search bar)
- Add chicken broth, juice of one lemon and red pepper flakes to skillet. Allow to simmer and add mushrooms back to skillet. Toss to warm up and garnish with fresh chopped parsley to serve. Enjoy!
